What is Aesthetic Gymnastics and Display Squad?
Aesthetic Group Gymnastics is a beautiful sport combining grace, acrobatics, modern dance and rhythmic gymnastics. It is stylish, expressive and natural in its movement form, where one part of the body reflects the whole body movement.
In an Aesthetic Group competition, the group (consisting of 6 – 10 gymnasts) competes without apparatus. They perform skills such as balances, leaps, pirouettes, flexibilities and waves combined with fluid dance movements. The team of gymnasts must perform together in unity and harmony. Canon may be performed or movements in succession. Gymnasts are also allowed to perform lifts as long as they are fitting to the theme of the choreography.
Aesthetic competition routines last between 2 minutes and 15 seconds and 2 minutes and 45 seconds and are performed on a carpeted 13m x 13m floor area.
Display routines, can combine Dance, Cheerleading, Aesthetic Gymnastics and Rhythmic Gymnastics. The Aesthetic and Display squads will work towards Aesthetic competitions, promotional displays, galas and festivals.

This class is for ages 10+ only and is only suitable for experienced dancers or gymnasts with excellent flexibility, co-ordination and amplitude. In addition to this, as the gymnasts will be working together as a close team, commitment is essential.
